"Working through the Blueprint for a Book with Jo was incredibly valuable. I went from having two plotlines that didn't quite meld together to having a cohesive story. She helped me identify holes, answer questions, and figure out important elements of the beginning, middle, and end of my story. She also gave concrete next steps that I know will improve the novel and my experience writing it. I got so much out of our time together, I highly recommend Jo as a book coach!"

“I worked with Jo on a young adult novel. I was on my second draft at the time, and she was a great help to me. First, she had me wrap my head around what bits I was missing or what needed more sketching out. This included a chapter-by-chapter analysis of events and their relevance to the plot. Then, she worked with me on looking deeply at the characters in my novel and see where I need either build or cut. She encouraged me to look at my characters in relation to the movement of the story and what I needed them to do for me. That was incredibly useful advice. Finally, and I think this was probably the most advantageous aspect of working with Jo, she looked at my book with the eye of my intended audience. She acted as an advocate for my readers. She asked questions they’d ask, what I wanted for them, and what message I wanted to send, and that was an invaluable exercise. I highly recommend working with Jo on your novel. Her thoughtful, thorough, and truthful analysis will only benefit you!”

"Jo is a wonderful book coach who supported me as I developed a pitch package. Her thorough research of literary agents was tailored to fit my wish list and her excellent knowledge and advice about the query process means I have an actionable plan. Jo's feedback on my manuscript was invaluable. With her guidance, my query letter and synopsis are now ready and I have the confidence to begin the query process. I would recommend Jo to anyone seeking a supportive and knowledgeable book coach. "

A bit about Jo.
Be truthful, gentle, and fearless. Mahatma Gandhi
Jo’s managerial time on the corporate ladder, gives her professional approach to all things. Her consistency, insight, organizational skills, and goal setting mentality are known to produce results.
Jo pursued her passion for lifelong learning while raising three children, incorporating the anti-oppressive, non-judgemental philosophy of George Brown’s AWCCA’s program into daily living. In 2015, Jo returned to her high school love of writing developing skills through the University of Toronto Continuing Education, Humber School for Writers, and lastly her dream come true, earning her MA in Creative and Critical Writing, which gives her an edge when digging deep into what’s working with her writing and yours!
During and post grad, Jo crafted three novels; one needing restructuring, one she hates, one she loves, and one she is in the gut-wrenching process of pitching. The latter received a not-so-great manuscript evaluation, and in her quest to fix it, Jo stumbled on Jenny Nash’s Blueprint for a Book, which was instrument in getting her novel into shape. Jo was so impressed with the method she certified as a Book Coach with Author Accelerator gaining skills necessary to support other writers in reaching their goals.
Jo’s combined experience makes her the thoughtful, decisive, busy person you can rely on!
